Six of the children in the ward at Kidwai had their birthdays celebrated with us on Saturday the 8th of May. We started off with our usual program, with Swami Yogaratna’s blessings, and then yoga and kirthan singing. Then, the storytellers from Kathalaya, Ambika and Manjula, took over with some interesting stories and origami activities that kept the children smiling throughout.

Children’s Day Celebrations
We were experiencing site difficulties, and so we could not post this earlier. Sorry.
Children’s Day was another landmark day for the Foundation and for the children at Samiksha.
We are now in collaboration with a Theatre in Education group named Script People’s Theatre. We had a wonderful afternoon of playback theatre with them during which they heard personal experiences or favourite stories of the children and enacted them on stage. Among the most hilarious and engaging themes played back were the story of the Hare and the Tortoise and actor Ramya’s visit to a child at the hospital ward.
Peace day at Kidwai hospital
On the 22nd September 2009, World Peace Day, we had ‘circle time’ with our children. About 20 children and mentors took the pledge to participate in world peace and good citizenship. We signed our names to be included in the Global Peace Games initiatives too.
Global Peace Games
The Global Peace Games for Children and Youth were hosted in Bangalore, in DN Street in Sevanagar. Mr. Manmohan Iyer from New York, a basketball coach and sports journalist who is involved with many initiatives for children (including ours), organised the event.

Aryamaan, Sanjay and Sinchana celebrated their birthdays the 6th of Sept., at Kidwai Hospital Pediatric ward! Children and their caregivers had loads of fun and everyone had plenty of laughs with our Magician and his tricks. The people at Samiksha organised the event and Mrs.Tania Khosla, sponsored the Party celebrations.. Look at the pictures on Facebook!
Happy Birthday!
Sunday morning the 6th Sept was a day of anticipation and great joy for the children. We celebrated the birthdays of Sanjay (10 years), Sinchana (6 years) and Aryaman (6 years) at KMIO Kapoor ward. Our parent sponsor Tania arranged for Magician Satish Kumar to entertain the children. We also had a prayer, some singing and shared gifts and toys with all children at the ward and the dharamshala. The best part was when most of the mothers also joined in and participated in the show. Everyone had a very fun time that morning with lots of laughs! Our Yoga teacher Swami Yogaratna wrapped up the event with some beautiful singing with the children.
Orientation Program – July 18
This meeting was held in order to brief our volunteers and resource partners on our work, and to share our thoughts and experiences on our ongoing programs. Those invited were intended to be a core group of the foundation, who would spread the word of our activities and bring more volunteers and sponsors to sustain our programs.

Orientation Program – June 18
We had our first orientation program at Kidwai Memorial Hospital on June 18. It involved singing, storytelling and the distribution of school kits for the children. This was supported by the Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness, Youth for Seva, Kathalaya and the Hippocampus Reading Foundation.
